The Payoff family came together at the 2015 CHOC Walk to support the Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Cole, the son of Chris Hilliard, Payoff’s VP of transparency and compliance.
On a warm Sunday morning in October, Team Payoff joined 15,000 walkers in covering 3.1 miles around the Disneyland parks in Anaheim, California to raise money for the Orange County Children’s Hospital.
Team Payoff raised $5,325 to contribute to the total of $2.3 million that was raised for the CHOC Walk this year — the event’s 25th anniversary.
Since the event was established in 1990, more than $25 million has been raised for the hospital and the care it provides to children.
“There is an absolute abundance of things that are amazing about CHOC,” says Chris, whose son, Cole, spent the first few weeks of his life in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
CHOC Children’s boasts a 279-bed state-of-the-art main facility located in Orange, California, and is able to offer families primary and specialty care clinics —The CHOC Children’s Heart, Neuroscience, Orthopedic and Hyundai Cancer institutes — and more than 100 additional programs and services.
According to CHOC, more than 2 million children across 4 counties rely on the aid and expertise of the hospital, regardless of whether or not the family has the ability to pay for services.
“The folks at CHOC, they just become like your second family,” Chris says. “Everything they do is just a testament to the level of care that can be given to a child.”
